What is an Iced Chai Latte?
This cold drink is a delicious fusion of chai tea bags, aromatic spices, honey, and creamy milk flavor, offering a refreshing twist to the classic chai experience. Whether you’re a chai enthusiast or a newcomer to this exotic drink, this recipe promises to elevate your summer drink to a new level.
Ingredients For an Iced Chai Latte
For this Iced chai tea latte recipe, I wanted to give it a more fun touch and an image that you crave! For this, fill espresso in a bear-shaped silicone mold. This way is optional, but it is ideal if you have a coffee shop, bar, or restaurant so your drink is Instagrammable and the molds are easy to find on Amazon.
- Espresso: If you are one of those who like caffeine, we will use 1-2 shots of espresso, I made it in a bear mold to give it a more fun touch! Cold brew is another option to use but takes longer to prepare than espresso and has a higher caffeine content.
- Chai Tea Bags: 2 tea bags will be enough for this fun drink! By using chai tea bags, we avoid making homemade chai concentrate or using tazo chai concentrate, which is also another option to make this recipe, but this way we save time!
- Milk: I used Almond milk, but it is optional to use oat milk, soy milk, or coconut milk, which serves as a liquid base, providing a nutty nuance that harmonizes with the other ingredients. It is also a dairy-free alternative for people with lactose sensitivity.
- Vanilla Extract: Optional but I recommended it for a subtle hint of sweetness and depth taste.
- Chai Spiced syrup: The concentrate is sweetened with a little touch of maple syrup (homemade). This ingredient is optional to enhance the flavor, but you can also use any sweetener.

Variation of an Iced Chai Latte
Here you have creative variations to suit different tastes and preferences.
Here are some other recipes with coffee to consider: Espresso Martini, Gingerbread Latte, and White Russian.
1.- Experiment with tea blends: Try different black tea blends to discover unique flavor profiles. Earl Gray or chai-spiced teas add an extra layer of complexity.
2.- Sweetener options: Customize the sweetness level by using honey, agave nectar, or maple syrup as sugar alternatives.
3.- Chai Ice Cubes: Freeze leftover chai concentrate into ice cubes. Use them in your Iced Chai Latte to prevent them from diluting as they melt.
4.- Chai Frappe: Blend ice, chai concentrate, and milk in a blender for a chai frappe. Top with whipped cream for a treat.
5.- Spice intensity: Make homemade chai concentrate by using spices like cardamom, cinnamon, whole cloves, ginger, star anise, and black pepper. Adjust the amount of whole spices to control the intensity of the spice flavor. Increase or decrease according to your preference and use cinnamon sticks as a garnish!
How to Make Chai Concentrate?
For 8 servings.
1.- In a saucepan, combine 4 cups water, 4 black tea bags, and 4-6 whole spices, like cardamon, cinnamon sticks, clove, star anisette, black peppercorns, 4 oz maple syrup, and fresh ginger slices.
2.-Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once it boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
3.- If you prefer a sweetened chai concentrate, add your chosen sweetener during the simmering process. Stir well to dissolve the sweetener.
4.- After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the chai concentrate cool to room temperature. The longer it sits, the more intense the flavor will be.
5.- Once cooled, strain the chai concentrate using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a pitcher, discarding the tea bags and whole spices.
Refrigerate the chai concentrate in a mason jar for at least 2 hours or overnight to cool completely.
