How to Make a Peppermint Hot Chocolate?
1.- Bring the milk and heavy cream to a gentle boil in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
2.-Add dark chocolate chopped and cocoa powder and stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until the chocolate is completely melted, add the sugar, and continue to cook on medium-low heat for another 5 minutes.
3.- Remove from the heat and add peppermint extract stir to combine
4.- Serve in a cup and top with whipped cream
5.- Garnish with a candy cane or any Christmas toppings
Variation of Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Kahlua – add Kahlua to get a little coffee flavor
Peppermint Schnapps – add to enhance the mint flavor
Vanilla ice cream – If you are one of those who do not like very hot drinks add a scoop of ice cream to balance the temperature
